The role

Job description

Markage is looking for a Quality Control Executive (Packaging Specialist) to join our fully remote Canadian team. This role focuses on reviewing packaging artwork and production materials for accuracy, consistency, and readiness. You will provide an independent quality check before packaging files move forward. The work includes comparing content and specifications, identifying discrepancies, documenting corrections, and helping teams prevent avoidable production errors. You will work with designers, artwork specialists, producers, project managers, client-service teams, and production partners. Clear communication, reliable follow-through, and careful work are expected. AI-assisted tools may be used for document comparison, checklist preparation, issue logging, version review, and quality documentation. All AI-assisted work must be reviewed for accuracy, relevance, confidentiality, and fit before it is shared or used.

Essential duties

  • Review packaging artwork against approved copy, specifications, references, and prior versions.
  • Check mandatory content, product information, barcodes, symbols, dimensions, and placement where applicable.
  • Identify inconsistencies in typography, imagery, colour references, dielines, and brand application.
  • Compare revisions carefully and confirm that requested corrections have been completed.
  • Document issues clearly so artwork teams can make accurate changes.
  • Maintain quality-control records, review status, and version information.
  • Support final release checks and confirm that the correct approved files are being used.
  • Raise unclear, conflicting, or potentially high-risk issues before production.

Essential requirements

  • Experience reviewing packaging, artwork, production files, or other detail-sensitive materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to compare complex documents systematically.
  • Comfort working with structured checklists, specifications, versions, and approval records.
  • Holds a valid Dex Professional Specialist Certification (DEX-PSP) in the Arts, Media & Creative Production domain.

Preferred qualifications

  • Packaging, prepress, artwork, quality-control, or regulated-content experience.
  • Experience with barcodes, dielines, multilingual packs, or high-volume SKU ranges.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Cloud, or artwork-review systems.
